I work at a bank, and a big part of what I do there is strap up dirty and damaged cash to be destroyed. We are supposed to mark these bills as “unfit.” (Or “mute,” short for “mutilated,” but “unfit” is more common.) The other day I decided that “unfit” was too long- I got things to do, man, you know?- and decided to shorten it.
Only after a few hours of this did I realize that meant I’d marked several dozen bundles of damaged bills as “unf.”
