I think Up is the worst film Pixar’s ever made.  Yes, even worse than Cars.

“I took a bite out of a Jawbeaker EP and got so sad I fell asleep forever.”

And go.

Her first memory was the sea, spread out beyond the point like a grey-blue blanket.  She was three, maybe four, all bruised knees and curls that caught the spring wind, and her grandfather was hanging laundry on the line to dry.  He’d tethered her to the old hitching post by the door to keep her safe while he did so, because there was no one there to watch her and keep her from going over the cliff’s edge.

“Sea,” she said, pointing at the water.  It was one of the few words she knew- she came early to the written word and late to the spoken, as though to balance herself.

Her grandfather, grey in face as well as hair, his coat bright red against last year’s grass and this year’s sky, followed her finger and shook his head.

“None of that,” he said.  “The sea took your mother.  It won’t be getting any more of mine.”  And he sat with her, the washing forgotten on the grass, and showed her how to make dolls out of clothespins and scraps of cloth.
